Nak Dara is a Malay term that suggests 'a virgin' or 'wanting a virgin'. It is a solo performance that sheds the multi-faceted representations of a woman�s body, and its intersections with feminine pleasure and erotic agency. Interweaving only the body and batik fabric, Hasyimah Harith immerses herself in the personhood of a Malay-Muslim woman. From cradle to death, these creased pieces of fabric are an accompaniment for femininity through acts of twisting and tying to close the chest, also known as 'kemban'.
